SHORT SYNOPSIS:

In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Elaborate dance numbers and rock songs reveal Frank-N-Furter’s latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.”

That “Sweet Transvestite” and the castle’s motley crew have done the “Time Warp” on Broadway in three unique productions: the original in 1975, a 25th-anniversary revival in 2001, and a 50th-anniversary revival in 2026. Complete with sass from the audience, cascading toilet paper and an array of other audience participation props, this deliberately kitschy rock ’n’ roll sci-fi Gothic musical is more fun than ever!

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

Dr. Frank-N-Furter  and Janet Weiss have been cast . All other roles are available, open to any age (18+), ethnicity, disability or gender.

In addition to each individual being able to stand out, it is important that all cast members are able to function as an ensemble, without any feeling that any one stands out above the others. Other important traits to have for the roles are a sense of comic ability, and some skill at improvisation. You must be comfortable with performing in your underwear, heels, fishnets and corsets.

  • Brad Majors: Janet’s boring, conservative fiancé who also loses his inhibitions in the castle. Range: Tenor/Baritone.
  • Riff Raff: The creepy, hunchbacked handyman. He is Frank-N-Furter’s loyal but ultimately rebellious brother from the planet Transylvania. Range: Tenor.
  • Magenta: Riff Raff’s sister and a domestic servant. She is seductive and extraterrestrial. Range: Alto/Mezzo-Soprano.
  • Columbia: A high-energy, tap-dancing groupie who is deeply devoted to Frank-N-Furter. Range: Mezzo-Soprano.
  • Rocky Horror: Frank’s physically perfect, artificially created “muscle man” who is naive and sensitive. Range: Tenor.
  • Eddie: A rough, rebellious delivery boy and rocker who was formerly Frank’s lover. Range: Baritone.
  • Dr. Everett Scott: A rival, wheelchair-bound scientist investigating Eddie’s disappearance. Range: Baritone.
  • The Narrator:  This character stands apart from the action to guide the audience through the story with a dry, comedic tone.
  • PHANTOMS: (All vocal ranges) The phantoms are the chorus characters of the show. The Phantoms act as witnesses to the proceedings while also playing a huge role in performing the music, dance, and providing an interesting extra atmosphere to the production. In the stage show, they are not the eccentric characters we see in the movie dancing the Time Warp and in other scenes. Instead, think of them as a Goth Greek chorus, where they sit and stand around watching what’s going on in simultaneous judgment and dispassionate disinterest.
