AS WITH MANY COMMUNITY THEATER COMPANIES, WE RELY HEAVILY ON COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND ARE NOT FUNDED BY ANY GOVERNMENT AGENCY OR GRANTS. 50% OF OUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT COMES FROM TICKET SALES AND FUNDRAISING EFFORTS. IN ORDER FOR US TO BRIDGE THE OTHER 50% GAP, QTC HUMBLY REQUESTS A PRODUCTION TUITION PER SHOW TO HELP OFFSET ONGOING EXPENSES TO KEEP OUR LIGHTS ON. QTC WILL NEVER TURN ANYONE AWAY FOR THE INABILITY TO PAY; THAT''S A PROMISE! THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO HELP SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS AND WE ARE OPEN TO EXPLORING THEM WITH THOSE WHO QUALIFY.

What’s the buzz? The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.
The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.” A true global phenomenon, Superstar continues to touch new generations of audiences and performers.

MONDAY, JANUARY 27th 6pm - 8:30pm
TUESDAY, JANUARY 28th 6pm-8pm.
CALLBACKS will be after auditions on the 28th at 8pm
REHEARSALS
Two Evenings a week. Mostly Mondays and Tuesdays (Thursdays & Fridays)
6pm - 9pm, beginning early February.
*Please keep all days available.* Two weekdays will be utilized in case of a snow event or alternative. Schedules will be distributed at the first cast/crew meeting.
TECH WEEK will run Monday, June 2nd through Thursday, June 5th, 2025.
SHOW DATES
PRIDE MONTH - Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sunday Matinees at 2pm
June 6th, 7th, 8th (NO PERFORMANCES on June 13th, 14th or 15th) 20th, 21st, 22nd, 27th, 28th and 29th, 2025
Attendance is required for all tech week dates and performance dates set forth.
***ALL ROLES ARE BEING CAST WITHOUT CONSIDERATION OF GENDER.***
All casting is 18+. The role of Jesus of Nazareth has been cast.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Please prepare 16 measures of a song in the style of the show. You will need to bring a backing track for your vocal audition. This can be a YouTube video, or a song easily playable on a bluetooth speaker Please bring a resume and recent headshot. QTC, Inc. encourages performers of all ethnicities and gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, to attend our auditions.
JUDAS Rock Tenor. Arguably the antagonist of the show. One of the twelve apostles of Jesus; concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus' fame.
MARY MAGDALENE Exotic/Beautiful Belter A follower of Jesus who finds themself falling in love with him. The role requires someone who can show grace, stability, weakness and compassion.
PILATE Rock Baritone. Governor of Judea who foresees the events of Jesus' crucifixion from beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented with that very situation.
KING HEROD High Baritone. The King of Galilee; Jesus is brought to him for judgment after first being taken to Pilate.
PETER Tenor. One of Jesus' twelve apostles; denies Jesus three times upon the night of Jesus' arrest to save himself.
SIMON High Baritone. One of Jesus' twelve apostles; urges Jesus to lead his followers into battle against the Romans.
CAIAPHAS Low Bass with Rocky Top. High priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation.
ANNAS High Baritone. Fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat.
3 PRIESTS
3 SOUL HUMANS will also come out of the ensemble. Must be strong movers who have contemporary dance experience and good rock / pop sounds.
ENSEMBLE
Lepers, Cured Lepers, Merchants, Apostles, Soldiers, Judas Tormentors, Reporters, Must be strong movers who have contemporary dance experience AND good rock / pop sounds.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT QTC - PLEASE READ
If cast, there is a PRODUCTION FEE of $100 - payable at the First Cast Meeting. Payment arrangements may be available upon request. Please do not let the production tuition prevent you from auditioning. QTC,Inc. will never turn anyone away for their inability to pay.
We graciously accept cash, checks (payable to: Queer Theatre Company, Inc.) and VEMNO: queertheatrecompany (please include $3 fee; not associated with QTC, Inc.)
All monies go directly back into the production/organization. We are an all-volunteer theater company.
We kindly request that each cast member assists with the promotion of the show through ticket sales, hanging show posters and through social media. As a new nonprofit, we are navigating the waters of how best to spread the word about QTC, Inc. Word of mouth is an extremely effective tool in accomplishing this goal.
